A police chase Tuesday ended when a stolen car had a head-on collision in Maplewood.
Cottage Grove Police spotted the car at about 1:30 p.m., then chased it north on U.S. Highway 61 — as it passed vehicles on the shoulder.
The car turned east on Lower Afton Road, then north on McKnight Road.
As it approached Interstate 94, the car veered into oncoming traffic, hitting another car.
Police arrested the driver at the scene. Ambulances transported the two riders in the stolen car, and three people in the other car.
According to Cottage Grove Police, none of the injuries was expected to be life-threatening.
The pursuing police car was not involved in the crash.
Cottage Grove Police did not immediately release the names of the arrested driver or any of the people injured.
