Washington County is hosting Flock Together, a family bird-watching event, Sunday at Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park.
A 1.4-mile BIPOC Connect Bird Hike runs from 9 to 10 a.m. this Sunday at the South Loop trailhead. At 10 a.m. there’s a family bird walk and a field sketch with Kiki Sonnen, a self-taught urban sketcher. From noon to 2 p.m., families can join Monica Bryand, co-lead for the Urban Bird Collective, for bird photography.
In addition to scheduled events, the public is invited to explore the park and learn about bird species while the park provides kayaking, food and other bird crafts.
Vehicle permits will be free due to a Statewide Health Improvement Partnership grant.
The event, held in partnership with the Urban Bird Collective, aims to bring awareness to National Pollinator Month in June. The nonprofit focuses on creating an inclusive space for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities to build bird-watching skills and learn about the natural environment.
