Cottage Grove elections: Bailey re-elected mayor, Olsen and Clausen win city council races

Incumbent Myron Bailey ran unopposed for mayor of Cottage Grove in the Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, election and Justin Olsen and David Clausen won the two open seats on the city council with 8 out of 8 precincts reporting. Councilmember Monique Garza also ran unopposed in a special election for the council.

Olsen, an incumbent on the city council, received just over 41% of the vote, while Clausen received almost 32% of votes. Incumbent Tony Khambata was unseated, receiving 25% of the vote.

A longtime Cottage Grove resident and a 13-year member of the city council, Olsen told the Pioneer Press that his priorities during his term included growing the city’s business sector, fiscal responsibility and preserving the city’s water, parks and air.

Clausen did not provide responses to a Pioneer Press questionnaire.
