CHANHASSEN, Minn. — Authorities have filed more charges against a former Minnesota high school principal accused of possessing child pornography.
Forty-four-year-old Timothy Dorway now faces 17 counts. He appeared in court Thursday but didn’t enter pleas. He declined to comment to reporters.
Dorway was the principal of Chanhassen High School. He was arrested in December after authorities executed search warrants at the school and his home in Victoria following a tip by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
He was fired from his job in January. He could face decades in jail and tens of thousands of dollars in fines if convicted. He’s due back in court April 10.
Dorway told authorities he was mostly interested in pornography involving 11- to 13-year-old girls. According to the new charges, investigators found videos in Dorway’s possession that involved girls and boys of much younger ages and found nearly 130 images and videos.
Dorway told police he received links to pornography from other people through Dropbox and eventually deleted the videos from his account. Court documents say investigators found more than 20 videos on his computer.
According to the charges, Dorway accessed his Dropbox account from an IP address registered to his home as well as an IP address owned by Eastern Carver County School District.
Dorway began teaching in 1995. Before moving to Chanhassen High School, he worked at Park High School in Cottage Grove, Owatonna High School and Rochester Public Schools.
