Drivers who use Minnesota 95/Manning Avenue in Washington County will need to find an alternate route on Saturday, May 5, and should prepare for a longer road closure come June.
The road will be closed between Bailey Road and 70th Street from about 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting, so crews can survey to prepare for construction.
Then in early June, the roadway will close for 90 days, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Local property access will be maintained throughout construction.
Construction will include resurfacing, widening shoulders, updating drainage, installing mumble strips, building turn lanes and improving sight distance at some locations.
This work is part of a four-year overhaul of Minnesota 95/Manning from Valley Creek Road to U.S. 61.
The improvements will enhance safety, smooth the road surface and improve traffic flow, MnDOT officials said in a news release.
The next stage of construction on the roadway will happen in 2019-2020 between 70th Street and U.S. 61.
