A $6 million makeover of Ravine Regional Park in Cottage Grove will be unveiled in a three-day celebration in June.
“We are very excited about this,” said Sandy Breuer, Washington County parks director. “We have new roads, new trails, new entryways. Everything is safe and accessible.”
County officials closed the 515-acre park for improvements in March 2017. The reopening events were postponed because of bad weather, but are now set for June 22-24.
Free fishing gear will be available all three days.
Kids’ craft activities will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 22. Kayaks will be provided for free from noon to 6 p.m. June 22 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 24. Reservations are required.
On June 23, an unusual form of yoga will be taught — goat-yoga, which features yoga lessons alongside live goats. It’s advertised as combining “the relaxation of yoga and the calmness and cuteness of goats.”
The classes will be available throughout the morning, and registration is required.
On Sunday, June 24, the reopening events include a half-mile “Run the Ravine Kids Dash” starting at 10 a.m. and a 5K race at 10:30 a.m.
Admission to the park will be free until July 1. Usually, a vehicle sticker is required for admittance to Washington County parks, costing $7 for a day or $30 for the season.
The improvements also include a new playground.
