Cottage Grove needs a new east-west highway — but officials don’t yet know exactly where it will run.
An open house has been scheduled for June 25 to unveil possible routes and answer questions about the project.
The road will connect U.S. Highway 61 at Keats Avenue to Grey Cloud Island.
It is classified by the county as a minor arterial roadway — with traffic speeds between 30 mph and 45 mph, and stop signs, stoplights or roundabouts every one-eighth to one-quarter mile.
Pedestrian and bicycle trails are usually built alongside the roadways.
Depending on the route, construction of the new two- to four-lane highway will involve widening existing streets or building entirely new roads.
The meeting is planned for 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. June 25 in Room 150 of the Washington County Service Center, 13000 Ravine Parkway S., Cottage Grove.
Material from the open house will be available on-line at 4 p.m. on June 25 by visiting www.co.washington.mn.us and searching for “SW Arterial Study.”
